One of South Africa’s top mountain biking racers, Andrew Hill has already had a passion for cycling at the age of 9 years old and has since gone on to receive sponsorships from a collective of support platforms, one of which is Brian Roberts Agency. Being involved in supplying products to the construction industry we draw synergy with the tough, hard work and resilience needed in Mountain biking.
This year we were fortunate enough to be involved in the PEPlett, which is a 4 day mountain biking race that is considered to be a tough one in anyone’s books. Starting on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth and heading south towards Jeffrey’s Bay, the race goes through Titsikamma before finishing in Nature’s Valley in Plettenberg bay some 360kms later.
Having been around for 5 years, the PEPlett has gained a reputation for wet, rough and ungroomed riding that is enjoyed only by a select group of ‘proper’ mountain bikers. This year was the first time the event was moved forward in the calendar to March in the hopes of drier weather. The plan worked for the organisers and we had fair, warm weather the entire time. The 4 days varied considerably as we headed down the coastline into the Western Cape, crossing some vastly different types of riding conditions and keeping the riders on their toes the entire time.
All in all, this was a fantastic event and Brian Roberts Agency is thrilled to have not only had the privilege of being involved in this event, but of getting to know one of South Africa’s finest riders.
